SkiRail Map of the Alps - Product Information
The above extract from the SkiRail Map of the Alps is shown to scale and illustrates well the clarity of the mapping and
level of detail included. Over 400 winter sports resorts across the entire Alpine area are
plotted and classified according to whether they are on the rail network or part of a linked ski area.
Major cities and other towns are also shown.
Rail lines are classified according to whether they are high speed rail links, standard railways or mountain railways
and major tunnels are plotted.
The map also includes a number of additional features including tabular information on over
100 ski resorts directly accessible by train detailing:
- extent of downhill and cross-country skiing available
- altitude range and vertical drop
- number of lifts
- difficulty of skiing
- availability of glacier skiing
- rail journey times to the nearest major city.
A separate, smaller scale inset map is also included showing the rail routes to the Alps from over ten European
countries with approximate journey times.
The map also comes with a free booklet containing detailed resort and country information as well as
information on skiing by train, airport/rail connections and contributions from Rail Europe
and the Ski Club of Great Britain.
